The drive home, quiet break-up contemplations and the weekends finally have a soundtrack. With the release of Johnoy Danao’s “Dapithapon”, a fresh, new version of easy listening is out in the market. Marked by cool vocals and memorable melodies, “Dapithapon” showcases his signature, which is his voice. Johnoy’s vocal stylings, with its throaty sexiness, conjure pillow talks and whispered conversations even while conveying passion and intensity. His combined songwriting prowess, originality and creativity fueled by powerhouse collaborations produced this album that truly redefines easy listening.
Johnoy Danao’s new album creates different moods, poses different questions and goes into the many intricacies of living. “Pare, Mare” is a ditty that even in its simplicity sends a rather powerful request to stay composed. While “Ulan” with its sweet, nostalgic melody asks the rain to be witness to two lovers’ happiness. “Aking Giliw”, with Aia de Leon of Imago as back-up vocals, is truer than love song.
The album contains 12 tracks. Other notable guest musicians include Louie Talan of Razorback on bass, Wendell Garcia of Pupil on drums and Boy Garovillo of Kalayo on percussion. Sammy Asuncion, also of Kalayo and Spy, also wrote and co-wrote most of the songs while playing guitar for most of them. This entry was posted in Uncategorized.
